Roger Bennett

I specialise in making very distinctive one-off bowls and vessels, usually thinwalled, inlaid with silver or gold, and colored with wood dyes. I work mostly in European sycamore, whose pale surface is an excellent canvas for my coloring techniques; occasionally I use other woods such as cherry, hornbeam and walnut. I use water-based dyes, which have the effect of enhancing the lines of grain and figuring in the wood; I choose the colors carefully, to complement the inherent qualities of each particular piece.
