Georgianne and Mike Jackofsky
I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of geometric shapes, both those formed by nature and those created by the human hand. To me, they have their own emotional force and, by incorporating geometric patterns into my work, I have been able to combine my passion for both art and mathematics, creating the perfect vehicle to explore and express my creative ideas. I’m particularly influenced by the designs on ancient bowls, cave walls, textiles, medieval manuscripts, and, most notably, maps. I don’t sketch my ideas out in advance, nor measure, or use a straight edge or ruler. Each piece is “drawn” freehand allowing the shape and grain of the wood to influence my designs. Each piece is a unique journey without a preconceived beginning or end.
